About us

Healthy Moms Action (HMA) was founded by Marcel Nguemaha, a data science leader and advocate for equitable access to quality health care. HMA’s mission is to bring executive-level data strategy and measurement discipline to the maternal health sector—where lives depend on informed decisions.

With a PhD in Physics and experience leading high-impact data initiatives across multiple healthcare sectors, Marcel brings a rare level of quantitative rigor to public health challenges. While completing a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, he identified a critical gap: although the private healthcare sector routinely uses data and AI to optimize performance, many global health organizations lack the frameworks needed to translate their data into measurable improvements in maternal outcomes.

Healthy Moms Action was created to bridge this gap.

Guided by the principle that “you can’t manage what you don’t measure,” HMA works to ensure that modern data and AI innovations do not remain confined to corporate boardrooms or research labs. We support maternal health organizations in building the measurement systems, analytic capacity, and governance structures needed to turn data into actionable insight.

Whether designing data strategies, strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems, or developing predictive insights, our goal is singular: to make quality maternal health care measurable, actionable, and accessible—and to reduce preventable maternal deaths through better use of data.
